Saint James Cathedral ...

Founded in 1834, St. James is the oldest Episcopal congregation in Chicago... Was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire [October 8, 1871] .. In 1875, exactly four years and one day after the Great Fire, a newly rebuilt and even more splendidly appointed church was officially completed and blessed.

Paul Popp Memorial Font ... Carved in Rome from Carrara marble by American sculptor Augusta Freeman; at a time when women sculptors were uncommon, the Font is still used for baptisms today and greets everyone who enters St. James.

Terrific shots. It brings back many memories. My son was married there, my father and mother were married there, I was baptized there, and my dad and uncle were alter boys in the '30's.
